Is your address up to date?

October 2013

Sometimes it's difficult to keep in contact with members about their pension benefits when they leave the HSBC Bank (UK) Pension Scheme. This is because very often the Trustee is not kept up to date when a deferred member changes his or her address.

The Trustee is currently working with a company called Target Professional Services (UK) Ltd (based in Selsey, West Sussex) who are sending out letters asking deferred members to confirm their current address information.

If you've recently told us about a change of address you may still receive a letter. If this is the case please can you call 0844 576 8080, or if preferred 01243 601333, where one of the Target Professional Services team will advise further.

The Trustee would like to thank you for your support.

If you’re interested in applying to become an MND or have any questions, please contact the Trustee Services Manager at the address given on the back page of the leaflet.

You will be unable to change your investment choices on 17 September 2013

15 September 2013

Warning, don’t let your pension become prey

16 August 2013

It’s a scam – don’t be caught by the predators stalking your pension. Companies are targeting savers (yes, it could even be you with your HSBC pension) claiming that they can help individuals take their pension cash early. They mainly get to you through websites, text messages and cold calling.

What to do:

  • don’t be taken in by what you read or hear,
  • don’t let the nice man or lady who knocks on your door or calls you on the phone talk you into revealing information.

In most cases, promises of early cash will be bogus and likely result in high tax charges and the loss sometimes, of more than half the value of your savings.

Make sure you know all the signs. You can find a leaflet at the link below that gives you the straight forward facts, so please take some time to read it and don’t be a victim of the predator!

You’ve heard that the Bank has announced its final Future Terms proposal to change employment terms and conditions here in the UK.

Your spring 2013 financial health check is available

April 2013

A financial health check ‘Your summary statement 2013’ gives you the results of the formal valuation of the Scheme as at 31 December 2011.

A copy is now available in the DBS library under Scheme information. Click ‘Statement of Scheme’s financial health’ then ‘Spring 2013’.

My Pension – seeing your payslips online

April 2013

You will no longer receive a regular monthly payslip in the post – it’s now online.

In early April, you should have received two pieces of mail in the post from the HSBC Bank (UK) Pension Scheme. The first was a ‘step by step guide’ containing your user ID and the second contained your temporary password.

The step by step guide (PDF, 800KB) also explains what you need to do to get online and see your payslips.

If you click on this My Pension link you can log in to your personal account using your user ID and temporary password.

Remember – you will still automatically receive a payslip in the post when:

  • your net pay is £2 more or less compared to the previous month’s pension payment, or
  • if your address, tax code, bank details or pay method changes.

You will also continue to receive your annual increase letter and P60 in the post as normal.

Formal valuation as at 31 December 2011 now complete

March 2013

The formal valuation of the Scheme as at 31 December 2011 is now complete and the statutory documentation is available in the DBS library under Scheme information.

By law, the Trustee is required to send you a statement of the Scheme’s financial health as at the 31 December 2011. This will be uploaded to the website and sent to all DBS members at the end of April.
